Deletion

You can delete your account directly from the Zell app, developed by NextLeap. Below are the steps to request deletion and what happens to your data.

How to delete your account — step by step

Account deletion is done from within the Zell app itself, not from this page. Follow these steps:

  1. 01

    Open your account page

Open the Zell app and go to your account page (“My account”).

  2. 02

    Choose “Delete Account”

On the account page, tap the “Delete Account” option (“Fshi Llogarinë”).

  3. 03

    Choose a method and confirm

Choose whether to schedule the deletion after 30 days or to delete immediately, then confirm the request. You will receive an email confirming the action.

The two deletion methods

When you tap “Delete Account”, the app asks you to choose one of these two methods:

Method 1

Schedule the deletion

After 30 days

The account is marked for deletion and you have 30 days to cancel if you change your mind.

  • You receive a confirmation email with a link to cancel the deletion, with no need to sign in.
  • You can also cancel simply by signing back into your account from the app within the 30 days.
  • After 30 days, if you do not cancel, the data is permanently deleted.
Can be cancelled within 30 days
Method 2

Delete immediately

Immediately

Your account and data begin to be deleted as soon as you confirm the request.

  • There is no cancellation period — the request cannot be undone.
  • Your data is deleted shortly after you confirm.
  • Choose this only if you are completely sure.
Irreversible — cannot be cancelled

What data is deleted

When the deletion is finalized, all of your account-related data is permanently removed:

  • Your account — email address, display name and hashed password.
  • Your personal library — favorites, book status, bookmarks, highlights, notes and shelves.
  • Data synced with our servers.
  • Your in-app notifications inbox.
  • Sign-in and session tokens.
  • Questions you submitted to the “Questions & Answers” section.

Once finalized, this data cannot be recovered.

What stays on your device

Zell is a local-first app. Content you have downloaded for offline use (books, articles, dua, videos) and your app preferences are stored only on your device. They are not affected by account deletion and remain until you delete them yourself or uninstall the app. You can keep using the app afterwards without an account.

How to cancel the deletion

Cancellation is possible only for the scheduled deletion (Method 1), during the 30-day period. You have two ways:

  • Use the “Cancel deletion” link in the confirmation or reminder email — no sign-in required.
  • Or simply sign back into your account from the app; you will see an option to cancel the deletion.

After cancelling, the account returns to active status immediately and receives a confirmation email. We also send a reminder email before the deletion date.

Immediate deletion (Method 2) cannot be cancelled.

Deletion due to inactivity

If an account stays unused for a long period, we first send a warning email. If the account remains unused after that, it may be automatically scheduled for deletion. Simply signing back in is enough to prevent this.

Timeframes and data retention

  • Immediate deletion: your data is deleted shortly after you confirm the request.
  • Scheduled deletion: data is deleted 30 days after the request. During these 30 days the account is not yet deleted and you can cancel at any time.

Once the deletion is carried out, your account data is permanently removed from our systems and there is no additional retention period. The only waiting period is the 30-day window you choose yourself under “Scheduled deletion”, which can be cancelled at any time. Downloaded content stored only on your device (see above) remains under your control.
